Open Studio

We’re open to the local community during select hours each week, offering a perfect opportunity to explore working with clay during independent studio time.

To ensure a smooth experience, reservations are required. Simply choose the activity you’d like to join below to reserve your spot.

Open Studio is $20 per hour for each person working with clay or glazing, and $15 per hour for each person/child painting pottery. If you’re accompanying a child just to assist, there’s no fee for your time.
 
(Please note: this is not an instructor-led workshop. However, there will always be a North Bend Pottery employee present to help set you up, purchase clay, answer questions, and check you out when you are done creating.)

Make an Open Studio Hand-building Reservation (coming soon)

Our open studio host will provide everything you need to create your own hand-built pottery in the studio.

If you plan to fire your work, it will be ready 10 days after creation for glazing – simply book a glazing reservation below as a second visit. Alternatively, if you plan to make decorative pieces, feel free to paint them same day with our vibrant Stroke & Coat glazes, and they will be ready for final pick up 10 days after your visit!

No prior experience necessary. Recommended for ages 5 and up.

Make an Open Studio Pottery Wheel Reservation (coming soon)

Open studio sessions are ideal for those with prior experience on the wheel who would like a chance to work independently and continue their clay journey at their own pace.

If you would like to store your work and return during a later open studio session to trim your piece, you’re welcome to use our keep-wet cart. (Don’t forget to reserve a wheel for trimming!)

Firing is included with your reservation, and your piece(s) will be ready for the next stage 10 days after they are submitted for firing. Once fired, simply book a glazing appointment to finish your creations and pick them up 10 days following!

Make an Open studio Glazing Reservation (Second Visit) (coming soon)

Schedule your glazing appointment at least 10 days after submitting your work to be fired to allow time for the initial bisque firing.

After glazing, your pieces will go through the kiln one final time and be ready for pickup approximately 10 days later.

 Make a Paint-Your-Own Pottery Reservation (coming soon)

Schedule some creative time for just you, you and your kids, or a small group of friends or family! Choose from our selection of pre-made bisque pieces to paint with special Stroke & Coat glazes that will show up vibrant and glossy after one firing in our kiln. Our open studio host will set you up, provide some initial guidance, and be there for any additional questions you may have. Your piece(s) will be ready for pickup approximately 10 days after your reservation. ‍

Additional Open Studio Information:

Each reservation is for one hour of creative time, with about 30 minutes of clean up built in. If you desire to stay longer, just check with the open studio host to see if it can be accommodated. Customers can always return with another open studio booking to finish uncompleted work.

You are welcome to stop by during any open studio time to pick up your finished work without a reservation.
