To say there is so much you can do in the world of hand-building with clay is a HUGE understatement! The possibilities are endless.

 Get your hands dirty (in the best way) in this beginner-friendly introduction to hand-building workshop where a few simple techniques open the door to endless creative possibilities. You’ll learn the core methods (pinch, coil, and slab) and discover how these basics can be used to make everything from bowls, mugs, and plates to planters, vases, trinket boxes, spoon rests, and completely one-of-a-kind sculptural pieces. No wheel required, just clay, creativity, and your hands.

Perfect for first-timers and the clay-curious, this relaxed, welcoming class is all about experimenting, playing, and realizing just how much you can make once you know the fundamentals. We’ll also explore texture, surface design, and simple decorating techniques so each piece feels uniquely yours. You’ll be amazed at how much you can create with just a few hand-building skills.

This is a 3-week course where each 2-hour session occurs on the same day/time over the 3-week period.

Week 1 – Pinch pot technique
Week 2 – Coil technique
Week 3 – Slab technique

After this course, you’ll be prepared to hand-build independently during our weekly Open Studio hours where you will have our entire studio tool & equipment set available to use, with staff onsite to help as needed!
