Perfect for those who have taken the intro wheel class and want to hone their throwing skills while creating matching pieces.
$260
3-Weeks | $260 | Ages 15+
This “next step after intro”-level pottery class is designed for students who are feeling pretty comfortable on the wheel and are ready to slowly refine their skills with purpose and precision. The focus is on throwing consistent forms (plates, saucers, bowls, and cups) that work together as cohesive dish sets. Through guided demos and hands-on practice, students will hone centering, pulling, and shaping techniques while learning how to repeat forms with confidence.
Along the way, we’ll dive into practical strategies for measuring, trimming for uniformity, and troubleshooting common challenges that affect consistency. Students will leave with a stronger understanding of process, improved muscle memory, and a small set of thoughtfully made pieces that reflect both craftsmanship and personal style.
This is a 3-week course, with each session occurring on the same day/time over the 3 week period (2.5 hours each).
Students must have taken an introductory wheel-throwing class, either at our studio or another studio, prior to registering for this workshop.
Week 1 – Focus on consistency in technique and form. Introduce plate throwing.
Week 2 – Hone footing/trimming skills. Create add-ons (handles, makers mark, etc)
Week 3 – Glazing techniques
